Our Guide To The Main Shopping Areas In Brighton

Kemp Town

The side of the city that’s brimming with character, Kemp Town could be described as ‘shabby chic’. Full of arty types looking to pick up a second hand bargain, it’s a great place to find trinkets or gifts from your weekend in Brighton.

Kings Road Arches

Artist's studios, home-made jewellery, henna tattoos, hair braiding, and that woman with the crumply face who for a couple of quid promises to tell you that someone tall, dark and interesting is just around the corner.

The North Laines

A kaleidoscope of colours awaits shoppers in the North Laines. Jewellery stands and vintage stores are sandwiched between cute cafes and independent clothes shops, giving this part of town an eclectic, laid-back vibe. You’re likely to snap up a bargain in Snooper’s Paradise or a one-off gem from some of the unique street stalls.

Tis all a bit posh over in Hove. If daddy hasn't thoughtfully provided you with a gold card for your shopping expedition then best steer well clear. Full of quirky independents and designer clothing boutiques. Full of browsing socialites.

The Lanes

The narrow lanes are a great place to potter and browse. Beautiful jewellery shops are on every corner and here is where you’ll find some of the more exclusive designer boutiques, alongside more household names including MAC and Oasis.

Churchill Square

Fashion lovers after shopping in Brighton should head straight for this shopping centre set over 3 floors. With all of the favourite high-street stores including Next, Miss Selfridge and WH Smith, you may need to head upstairs for a coffee break, or just an excuse to sit down. Log on to for a comprehensive list of shops.
