Ambassador Hotel Accessibility Guide

This page has been created with the help of Brighton & Hove Federation of Disabled People who visited the Ambassador in April 2009 to independently review our facilities for people with different disabilities wishing to stay in Brighton and be sure before they book that we have the right facilities and helpful policies in place for you.

As a terraced Grade 2 listed building built in C.1793 on a hill there are some physical and planning restrictions as to what we are able to offer but in the best spirit and will to make every guests stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible we have implemented policies and put in place equipment to do just that.

For those prospective visitors that may require other facilities and services that we do not offer we have included this link to Brighton & Hove Federation of Disabled People website where you will find reviews of other places to stay as well places to visit and a full Accessible City Guide

The Accessibility Review in Detail

Location / Getting there
A 4 Star Bed and Breakfast B&B Town House Hotel in the New Steine in Brighton Centre, Kemp Town City Village. Located close to the Beach, Pier, Restaurants, Clubs, Shopping, Royal Pavilion, Theatres, and bars. Approx 1.5 miles from Train Station - up a steep hill. Approx 200m from the Number 7 bus stop on St James' Street.

Parking / Getting in
There is local on-street 'pay and display' parking which is free for Blue Badge holders. There are seven steep steps up to the hotel entrance with a banister which almost goes to the top of the stairs. There is a push door with doorbell entry.

Reception / getting around
There are three rooms available on the entry level floor which are available on request at time of booking. There are moveable tables and chairs in the bar area, which has a hearing loop. There are stairs to rooms on the other levels. The stairs have a dark, patterned carpet and are not marked with white lines.

Accommodation / Rooms
Some rooms are fitted with hearing loops. Larger lightbulbs are available on request for those with visual impairments. The bathrooms are not adapted for those with disabilities, but there are walk-in showers. There is not a specific accessible toilet. There is key entry to the rooms.

Additional comments
The staff at this venue are absolutely lovely and were very helpful during the review. The owner's name is Nick and he will be very accommodating if you call him for any further information. This hotel is not an accessible building for people with mobility difficulties, but they have really worked towards making it accessible for those with visual or hearing impairments. The approx cost for a double room mid-week is £85, or £95 at the weekend, with a reduction of 25% for stays of two or more nights out of high season. The restaurant has large print menus and are able to serve breakfast on the ground floor for those who wish.
